aspects of Canadian society The Catholic Immigration Centre provides services to help newcomers get settled in Ottawa Helping With Furniture A wonderful private initiative for helping newcommers furnish their homes Ottawa Public Library An excellent source of information and free services like computer access. They have sections dedicated to Home movie and photography Citizenship and Immigration Vietnamese Canadian Association Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants OCASI was formed in 1978 to act as a collective voice for immigrant-serving agencies and to coordinate response to shared needs and concerns. Settlement for Newcomers The Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre helps Chinese newcomers adapt to life in Ottawa. The Somali Centre for Family Services provides settlement and integration services to Somali refugees and immigrants La Boussole A program run by the Economic & Social Council of Ottawa-Carleton. Among other services, it helps Francophone newcomers with their job search First Day Arriving Settlement Org iSisters Technology Mentoring Research Resource Division for Refugees The Canada-Japan Society of Ottawa The Canada-Japan Society of Ottawa was established to promote goodwill and encourage understanding between the peoples of Canada and of Japan. Immigrant Women Services provides counselling and support to abused immigrant women in the Ottawa area. Jewish Family Services of Ottawa offers 65 programs, including settlement and employment services, to children, youth, adults, couples, families and groups. The Lebanese and Arab Social Services Agency of Ottawa-Carleton provides settlement and integration services to Lebanese and Arab immigrants. National Council on Canada-Arab Relations (NCCAR) Promoting greater recognition of the social, economic, political and cultural contribution of Arab-Canadians to Canada Making information related to the Arab world available to individuals, organizations, educational institutions, libraries, media and Canadian provincial and federal governments. The National Congress of Italian Canadians The Congress is the voice of all Italian Canadians. the Congress is seeking to give the Italian Canadian community an effective national voice in all economic, social, and political issues affecting them. Ukrainian Canadian Congress The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) represents the Ukrainian Canadian community before the people and Government of Canada, promotes linkages with Ukraine and identifies and addresses the needs of the Ukrainian community in Canada. Canadian Ethnocultural Council (CEC) The CEC's objectives are to ensure the preservation, enhancement and sharing of the cultural heritage of Canadians, the removal of barriers that prevent some Canadians from participating fully and equally in society, the elimination of racism and the preservation of a united Canada.
