This lists some organizations that have useful information for newcomers. They are not in any particular order and might or not provide home movie or photos for newcomers.

Ottawa Immigrant Services OCISO is a community-based non-profit agency providing services in Ottawa. Our mission, as always, is to enable newcomers to the Ottawa area to become equal participants in all aspects of Canadian society

The Catholic Immigration Centre provides services to help newcomers get settled in Ottawa

Helping With Furniture A wonderful private initiative for helping newcommers furnish their homes

Ottawa Public Library An excellent source of information and free services like computer access. Check their site map for job finding and events. They have sections dedicated to Home movie and photography

Ottawa Start An excellent source of information for Ottawa including Ottawa and events

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation An excellent source of news and resources for newcomers. They have sections dedicated to Home movie and photography

Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants OCASI was formed in 1978 to act as a collective voice for immigrant-serving agencies and to coordinate response to shared needs and concerns.

Settlement for Newcomers

The Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre helps Chinese newcomers adapt to life in Ottawa.

The Somali Centre for Family Services provides settlement and integration services to Somali refugees and immigrants

La Boussole A program run by the Economic & Social Council of Ottawa-Carleton. Among other services, it helps Francophone newcomers with their job search

The Canada-Japan Society of Ottawa The Canada-Japan Society of Ottawa was established to promote goodwill and encourage understanding between the peoples of Canada and of Japan.


Immigrant Women Services
provides counselling and support to abused immigrant women in the Ottawa area.

Jewish Family Services of Ottawa offers 65 programs, including settlement and employment services, to children, youth, adults, couples, families and groups.

The Lebanese and Arab Social Services Agency of Ottawa-Carleton provides settlement and integration services to Lebanese and Arab immigrants.
